The task was to prepare a study for Liikennevirasto that describes the current European life cycle standards, their relevance to Liikennevirasto and how these standards can be implemented in planning and developing more environmentally sound infrastructure projects. One Click LCA was used in assessing the life cycle impacts of the case study — Kivikko interchange infrastructure project — according to the EN 15978 standard. In conclusion, both planned and realized values were used in the calculations, while the resulting impacts were compared in order to see the benefits the planning can have regarding the environmental impacts of such infrastructure projects.
